Petr’s Moon: A theatre-recital for wind quintet

September 24, 2017 @ 10:00 a.m.

University of Toronto Multidisciplinary Creative Conference

In 1944, Czech composer Pavel Haas was deported from Theresienstadt concentration camp to be murdered in Auschwitz. An identical fate met Petr Ginz, a 14-year-old diarist with a flourishing imagination even in the darkest of times. Join the Downwind Quintet for a concert of powerful music — Haas’ Wind Quintet (1929), and the Ontario premiere of Terezín (2017) by Mexican composer Cristóbal MarYán — melded with poetry, film projection, and recitations from Petr’s diary in a concert exploring art, youth, and remembrance.
